‘The principle of "first the human being and then society and the State" must be firmly established in the Constitution and laws, in our daily lives. We need to further strengthen the national statehood, thanks to this solid foundation we are able to effectively overcome today’s serious tests and future unknown challenges and threats', President Shavkat Mirziyoyev said, highlighting the continuous work to improve the Basic Law.
‘Our people expect big changes from the constitutional reform. More than 220 thousand proposals submitted so far are clear proof of this’, Shavkat Mirziyoyev said.
‘Discussions and debates continue. We all see that our deputies and political parties are responsible and active in this process, and they take every proposal very carefully. I thank them for that. We will make decisions based on the principle of 'Society initiates the reforms' and consults our people on all issues’, the head of state stressed.
According to the President, Uzbekistan needs to draft a modern Constitution, imbued with the idea of respect for human honor and dignity as the supreme value, such as a Basic Law, which will be fully consistent with the goals of New Uzbekistan and serve the future generations.
'All the proposals and wishes expressed by our citizens will be taken into account and the draft Constitution will be submitted to a national referendum. Most importantly, each of our compatriots must feel involved in the ongoing reform, in order to have the right to proudly say: ‘This is my Constitution,’, President Shavkat Mirziyoyev concluded.
