December 13. Washington. The second meeting of the strategic partnership dialogue between Uzbekistan and the United States of America talked about the current issues of bilateral cooperation in politics and regional dialogue, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Uzbekistan reports.
The Uzbek delegation led by the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Uzbekistan, Vladimir Norov, and the US Assistant Secretary of State for South and Central Asia, Donald Lu noted that despite the serious threats, Uzbekistan is consistently moving towards large-scale and successful reforms under the leadership of Shavkat Mirziyoyev. The American politician expressed the country’s readiness to fully support the reform program in Uzbekistan, including in the fields of economy, education, and human rights.
The meeting also discussed cooperation on dialogue on security issues and paid special attention to the situation in Afghanistan. The United States of America thanked Uzbekistan for its active participation in the "C5+1" diplomatic platform.
The importance of careful preparation for the 2023 meeting of the Framework Agreement on Trade and Investments between the USA and Central Asia (TIFA) in Samarkand was emphasized.
The parties agreed to establish a permanent working group with the participation of the offices of both parties to initiate the preparation for the 2023 meeting of the Framework Agreement on Trade and Investments between the USA and Central Asia (TIFA) in Samarkand.
The American side reported that it is ready to continue providing assistance to Uzbekistan in the process of becoming a member of the WTO. During the Human Criterion session, the representatives of the USA gave a positive assessment of the achievements in strengthening democratic institutions, protecting freedom of speech and religion, ending forced labour and ensuring gender equality in Uzbekistan.
