The United States Agency for International Development (USAID) intends to allocate $2mn to help Uzbekistan’s fertilizer producers improve production, operations, sales, and exports, the press service of the agency has reported. This would help increase production by up to 20% and create more than 1,000 new jobs in the Central Asian republic.
As part of their meeting on December 12, Deputy Administrator Isobel Coleman and Uzbekistan Foreign Minister Vladimir Norov discussed Uzbekistan’s commitment to diversifying its economy, developing its human capital, and increasing employment opportunities amid the dynamism of the Central Asia region.
The two sides also discussed plans for deepening cooperation in primary and secondary education, including workforce readiness and entrepreneurship.
