The President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev has accepted credentials from the Ambassadors of the Republic of Korea, Kim Hee-sang, the United States of America Jonathan Henick, the Kyrgyz Republic Musa Jamanbayev, the People's Democratic Republic of Algeria Gennad Boumedian, and the Republic of Kazakhstan Beibut Atamkulov, President's press service reports.
In his speech, the head of state congratulated the envoys on the beginning of their diplomatic mission in Uzbekistan.
It was noted that, following the New Uzbekistan Development Strategy, extensive and irreversible reforms aimed at building a strong democratic State based on the rule of law and a free civil society are carried out in the republic.
Given the ambiguous geopolitical situation in the world, Uzbekistan is pursuing a balanced foreign policy based on trust and respect, mutually beneficial cooperation, and strengthening bilateral and multilateral ties with all countries. Relations with the States of Central and South Asia, Europe and America, and the Arab-Muslim world have been upgraded to a new level.
Cooperation with authoritative international and regional organizations and global financial institutions is increasing. Recently, the Shanghai Cooperation Organization and the Organization of Turkic States held high-level summits in Samarkand.
Emphasis was placed on the further implementation of the principles of a market economy, active support for the private sector, and broad foreign capital and technology. As a result, over the past five years, foreign investment in Uzbekistan's economy has increased tenfold and has approached $40bn.
‘We have set a goal to double the gross domestic product of the republic in the next 10 years', President Shavkat Mirziyoyev said, ‘We expect to increase investment to $120bn over the next five years, including at least $70bn in foreign investment. Our country must be open to the world, and world markets must be open to us’, the head of state added.
