Deputy Minister of Investment and Foreign Trade Badriddin Abidov, on Tuesday (November 22), held a meeting with Tim Torlot, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland, to reflect on the prospects of bilateral trade and economic cooperation.
In particular, parties discussed the UK’s advisory and technical assistance in Uzbekistan’s accession to the World Trade Organization (WTO), measures of strengthening cooperation within the GSP+ program designed to promote economic growth as well as the upcoming 26th meeting of the Uzbek-British Trade and Industry Council (UBTIC) that is set to be held on November 30 this year in Tashkent. So far, nearly 200 leading companies have registered for the event.
The parties noted the increased interest of the business community of the two countries in participating in the Council, which has already registered about 200 leading companies operating in various industries.
Following the meeting, the parties agreed to intensify cooperation to implement all the projects and initiatives discussed successfully.
