Uzbekistan this year registered the record-breaking number of marriages in 2022, the state statistics committee reports.
So far, 197,013 have entered into a marriage union in the Central Asian republic since the beginning of the year. Before the pandemic, in 2019, the number of marriages reached only 195,000. Of these, 101,397 (51.4%) were married in cities, while 95,616 (48.6%) were registered in rural areas.
However, 34,464 cases of divorce were registered in the country over the first nine months of this year.
