Uzbekistan's female athlete 22-year-old Svetlana Osipova bagged gold at the World Taekwondo Championships in Guadalajara, Mexico, securing her victory in the 73+ kg weight category, the press service of the National Olympic Committee (NOC) of the republic reports.
In the final match, she defeated 21-year-old Dana Azran from Israel. As a result, Svetlana Osipova became the first female taekwondo athlete in the history of the Central Asian republic to win gold in the world championships.
Uzbekistan is ranked sixth in overall team standings with one gold and two bronze medals.
