On November 18, Shavkat Mirziyoyev received the High Representative of the Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, Vice President of the European Commission Joseph Borrell, the press service of the Uzbek president reports.
The head of state thanked the head of European diplomacy for supporting the ministerial meeting in the format of "European Union - Central Asia" held in Samarkand on November 17-18 and the international conference on interdependence on the topic "Global Gateway for Sustainable Development".
Joseph Borrell welcomed on a par Uzbekistan's policy of strengthening regional cooperation and noted that Central Asian countries have achieved great success. The European Union intends to expand cooperation with the countries of the region in the fields of politics, trade, investment, digitization, climate change and environment, science and education.
Based on the results of the conference in Samarkand, it was agreed to develop a joint "road map" and sign an agreement on expanded partnership and cooperation between Uzbekistan and the European Union as soon as possible.
