On November 10, the first Duty-Free shop for tourists was opened in the city of Samarkand. This was reported by the State Customs Committee.
The opening ceremony of the first domestic duty-free shop for foreigners visiting Uzbekistan took place at the "Alexandr" hotel in Samarkand based on the business experience of South, - the report of the committee says.
The goods are sold in Uzbek soums and in currencies of other countries.
The shop will sell the goods upon presentation of the buyer's identity document, as well as the flight ticket for departure, and deliver them at international airports on the day of a traveller’s departure.
At the moment, work is underway to open duty-free shops in Bukhara, Khorezm and Fergana regions.
