"Wejhatt", specialising in the field of tourism of the Sultanate of Oman, published an article on the possibilities of Uzbekistan in the field of pilgrimage tourism, "Dunyo" news agency reports.
The popular newspaper in the Arab world provides information on the efforts made by the Ministry of Tourism and Cultural Heritage of Uzbekistan, including the cooperation being developed with Islamic countries that are showing increasing interest in travelling to the country, and the innovative solutions introduced in the field.
"Uzbekistan is gaining the status of a leading tourist region in terms of the visa-free entry procedure and travel facilities provided to citizens of many countries. In particular, the 30-day visa-free entry for citizens of 65 countries and the introduction of simplified electronic visa systems for citizens of 77 countries gives travellers additional benefits," the author wrote.
The city of Khiva was chosen as the "Tourism Capital of the Islamic World" by the member states of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, and the next session of the UN World Tourism Organization will be held in Samarkand in 2023.
