President Shavkat Mirziyoyev, on November 7, received Secretary-General of the World Tourism Organization (UNWTO) Zurab Pololikashvili. At the meeting, the UNWTO official noted that he highly appreciates the ongoing reforms in the development of modern tourism infrastructure in Uzbekistan and the country's measures aimed at creating a favorable environment for implementing business initiatives contributing to the growth of external and domestic tourism.
The agreement was reached on adopting a 'road map' to expand cooperation with UNWTO, which will include measures to promote the tourist brand of Uzbekistan and conduct effective information campaigns, training activities, and other projects.
Uzbekistan has been a member of UNWTO since 1993. Over the past period, several initiatives and joint programs aimed at unlocking the industry's enormous potential and promoting Uzbekistan's tourism brand at the international level have been implemented. Preparations are underway in Samarkand, where the 25th Session of the UNWTO General Assembly will be held in 2023.
