Although some Uzbek families are listed as impoverished, they are not actually needy. Finance Minister Timur Ishmetov announced this at the plenary session of the Legislative Chamber of the Oliy Majlis, held on October 25.
Ishmetov said that along with achievements in social protection, there were also a number of noticeable shortcomings.
In 2019, about 600,000 families received social benefits, which tripled in 2022. The goal is to improve the "Unified Register of Social Protection" every year.
“Local authorities and women's activists visited every household collecting additional information about whether the pensioners are really underpaid or not.
According to the data collected from more than 20 state bodies, some of the families registered as poor are actually not. I guess we need to change the selection system and work more aggressively in this direction,” the Minister of Finance reiterated.
Since the beginning of this year, vocational training centers established in 463 neighborhoods of the republic prepared 100,400 participants, and 8,800 people were enrolled in non-state educational institutions.
