On the same day, President Sadir Japarov said in an interview with the "Kabar" agency that the government has information about who is behind the rallies in Kempir-Abad.
Mass arrests began on October 23. More than 20 politicians, activists, and bloggers were arrested on suspicion of trying to organize mass riots. Their houses were searched. On October 24, the Bishkek court detained most of them for 2 months.
History of the issue
According to the agreements reached between the two countries in March 2021, several cross-border sections, in particular, Mount Ungar-Too, will be transferred to Kyrgyzstan. In exchange for these territories, Uzbekistan acquired the right to use the Kempir-Abad reservoir. The 50-hectare area where the Shahrikhonsoy canal is located was also transferred to Uzbekistan. In return, Kyrgyzstan received 50 hectares of land in the border area of the Ozgan district.
