This is the sixth meeting between the leaders of the two countries this year. It can be seen that cooperation between the two countries is expanding, as mutual dialogues are increasing and relations between the countries are strengthening.

Special attention is being paid to the development of strategic relations with Turkmenistan, cooperation with this country has become more active since 2016. High-level contacts have acquired a stable character (8 visits to Turkmenistan: 3 times in 2017, 3 times in 2018, 2019, 2021. 6 visits to Uzbekistan: 2016 - 2 times, 2018, 2019, 2021, 2022).
In particular, Shavkat Mirziyoyev, as the President of Uzbekistan, made his first foreign visit to Turkmenistan in March 2017. During the visit, a historic document - the Agreement on Strategic Partnership was signed. In turn, on July 14-15, 2022, Serdar Berdimuhamedov's first state visit at the regional level was made to Uzbekistan.
Since 2017, inter-parliamentary relations have become more active: two joint meetings of inter-parliamentary friendship groups were held in the video conference format (November 30, 2020 and March 11, 2021). International organizations (UN, CIS, SCO, TCT, etc.). positive dynamics of mutual cooperation are being observed within the framework. Expansion of cooperation in trade-economic, transport-logistics and energy spheres occupies an important place in bilateral relations.
Trade
Turkmenistan is one of the main trade partners of Uzbekistan in the region. Uzbekistan exports agricultural machinery, food products, mineral fertilizers, construction materials, chemical and textile products and various services. Petroleum products, mechanical equipment, polymers and other chemical goods are imported from Turkmenistan.
Mutual trade turnover in 2021 was $902.9mn (+67.6%): export - $191.8mn, import - $710.2mn. In January-September 2022 - $569mn (-5%), of which export - $154.1mn (+13%), import - $414.9mn (-10.3%).

Transport and logistics
Uzbekistan and Turkmenistan are interested in deepening cooperation in the field of transport, which is important for realizing the transit potential of the two countries, in the context of global revision of transport-logistics relations.
By the end of 2021, the volume of international cargo transportation in road transport increased by 17%.
Turkmenistan is one of the main transit countries in the region - a large amount of Uzbek goods are transported to the border of Iran and then to the ports of the Persian Gulf through the territory of this country. In addition, the parties are working together to maximize the potential of the Uzbekistan-Turkmenistan-Caspian Sea-South Caucasus transport route.
Energy
The total asset of the gas pipeline "Turkmenistan-Uzbekistan-Kazakhstan-China" includes a large energy project.
In 2021, 84,400 tons of oil and oil products worth of $48.76mn were imported from Turkmenistan. The country also imported $113.5mn worth of electricity.
Afghan issue
The parties are mutually interested in achieving peace and stability in Afghanistan, respecting the path of political and socio-economic development chosen by the Afghan people, and turning it into a prosperous country.
Both political and diplomatic efforts are being made by countries to normalize the situation in Afghanistan. "Khayraton-Mozori-Sharif" railways, "Akina-Andkhoi" railway line, as well as "Surkhan-Puli-Khumri", "Kerki-Imomnazar-Andkhoi", "Serkhetabat-Hirot", "Rabatkashan-"Kalaynau" is a clear example of a fair share in this regard. Such extremely important projects serve to ensure peace and stability in Afghanistan.
