Shavkat Mirziyoyev congratulated the people of Uzbekistan on the day, October 21, when the Uzbek language became the state language.
'Dear fellow citizens!
First of all, I sincerely congratulate you on Uzbek language day!
For a person, the mother tongue, which defines his identity and spiritual world, is as dear and honorable as his parents, who gave birth to him and brought him to adulthood.
'The words of Mahmud Koshgari, the great scientist who studied our ancient Turkic language for the first time on a scientific basis: "Erdam boshi tildur", i.e., "All virtues begin with the language", are deeply true,' the President said.
'Preservation and development of this priceless treasure, a clear mirror of our people's thinking, is one of our most honorable tasks today.
Following the wise teachings of the great thinker Mir Alisher Navoi: "Pay attention to the language - pay attention to the hand," our country's state policy on the language issue is in complete harmony with our fundamental reforms aimed at honoring human dignity.
In particular, October 21 - the day of the Uzbek language holiday - became an unforgettable and historical event. In addition, decrees, decisions, and normative documents aimed at increasing the status and prestige of the state language were adopted. In this direction, a concept and a separate program for 2020-2030 are being implemented.
It should be noted that according to the recently adopted relevant laws, the procedures for publishing advertising and promotional materials in the state language and the knowledge of the Uzbek language for admission to the state civil service are defined.
In short, the five-volume "Annotated Dictionary of the Uzbek Language," dictionaries of terms related to more than ten fields, and the thirty-volume "Uzbek Navoiology of the Independence Period" research complex was created.
It is indeed gratifying that these days a hundred-volume collection titled "Masterpieces of Turkish Literature" is being published in our native language, and the efforts of our active and talented young people are enriching the electronic database of Uzbek information on the Internet.
Selected examples of Uzbek classical and modern literature have been translated into foreign languages and are attracting the attention of foreign readers. In addition, scientific and artistic works written by our talented scientists and creators are receiving prestigious international awards.
The fact that the International Olympiad of Uzbek language and literature among students of foreign countries has been organized also promotes our native language widely.
Today, about 50 million people worldwide speak Uzbek. This beautiful language is being studied enthusiastically in many countries.
At the moment, great importance is attached to preserving and developing the language, culture, and values of different nationalities and peoples in our country. We will consistently continue our work in this direction', President Shavkat Mirziyoyev concluded.
