Shavkat Mirziyoyev sent his condolences to Recep Tayyip Erdogan over scores of casualties as a result of the explosion in the coal mine in the Bartin province of Turkey, the press secretary of the president posts.
The head of state expressed his condolences to the family members and relatives of the deceased and wished the injured miners a speedy recovery.
The coal mine blast in Amasra district of Bartin region of Turkey took away the lives of 40 miners. Turkish Interior Minister Suleyman Soylu shared the latest information with the public.
58 of the 110 people who were in the mine at the time of the accident were rescued. The fate of one miner remains unknown. Soylu said that the search is ongoing. The explosion occurred at one of the mines in Amasra district on Friday, October 14, around 18:15 local time.
Earlier the Minister of Health of Turkey Fakhriddin Khoja informed about 11 people who were hospitalized. The President of Turkey, Recep Tayyip Erdogan, cancelled all events scheduled for Saturday, October 15, and announced that he would soon arrive at the scene. The Prosecutor's Office of Bartin region opened a criminal case regarding the mine explosion.
