On September 15, Shavkat Mirziyoyev held a meeting with the President of Belarus, Alexander Lukashenko, who arrived in Samarkand to participate in the summit of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization.
First, Alexander Lukashenko thanked Shavkat Mirziyoyev for the invitation and expressed his sincere gratitude for his support in starting the procedure for the admission of the Republic of Belarus to the organization.
Shavkat Mirziyoyev noted that Uzbek-Belarusian trade and economic cooperation have increased by 44% last year, and by 12% in seven months of this year.
The parties agreed to expand the network of trading houses and logistics centres in both countries, launch the "Agroexpress" project for accelerated food delivery, and introduce an electronic system for certifying the origin of goods.
The leaders of Uzbekistan and Belarus noted to intensify industrial cooperation in the mechanical engineering, agro-industry, chemical, pharmaceutical and electrical engineering sectors. Shavkat Mirziyoyev also proposed to hold the second Interregional Forum in Uzbekistan.
