Shavkat Mirziyoyev held a meeting with the Prime Minister of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan, Shehbaz Sharif, who is visiting Samarkand to participate in the SCO summit.
Shahbaz Sharif expressed his gratitude to Uzbekistan for the warm welcome and the humanitarian assistance provided to the flood victims in Pakistan. He noted that Pakistan is interested in strengthening its multifaceted strategic partnership with Uzbekistan.
The leaders discussed in detail the issues of bilateral, first of all, trade-economic, investment and transport-transit cooperation that has continued to show positive progress.
Last year, bilateral trade soared by 47%, and from the beginning of 2022, it rose by 10%.
The SCO full-fledged members urged to expedite the Trans-Afghan railway project, by removing all obstacles to trade and creating favourable conditions for mutual transportation of goods.
