On September 1, Uzbekistan sent 40 tons of humanitarian aid to flood-hit Pakistan. According to Dunyo news agency, the humanitarian cargo was delivered to Islamabad.
The aid which includes vegetable oil, flour, rice, canned meat, confectionery and pasta products, as well as textiles and other goods was sent to Pakistan by military aircraft.
Federal Minister for Science and Technology Agha Hasan Baloch welcomed the cargo at Islamabad International Airport on behalf of the Government of Pakistan.
“Today, we are witnessing the true feelings of sympathy of our Uzbek brothers and sisters, who were among the first to lend a helping hand in difficult times. The government and people of Pakistan highly appreciate the generosity of the leadership and people of fraternal Uzbekistan,” the minister said.
Shah Faisal Kakar, director general of the Department of Foreign Affairs of Pakistan, expressed gratitude for the cooperation with the countries of Central Asia.
