Uzbekistan may introduce criminal liability for the discharge of excessively polluted water into the wastewater network. This was noted in the draft law "On amendments and additions to certain legal documents" announced for public discussion.
According to the draft, the Criminal Code Article 196-1, provides for penalties for the discharge of excessively polluted wastewater into the sewage networks.
Discharge of wastewater with the content of pollutants exceeding the permissible level into the wastewater discharge network, which causes the calculation of a large amount and more compensation, was committed after the application of an administrative penalty for such actions. shall be punished by a fine from 10 times to 200 times the base calculation amount or deprivation of certain rights for up to 5 years or compulsory community service for up to 360 hours or correctional work for up to 3 years.
The discussion of the draft bill will continue until September 14.
