On August 29, President Shavkat Mirziyoyev laid a capsule on the foundation of the construction of Al-Khorazmi town in the city of Urganch.
The head of state was presented with the project during his trip to the region in March this year and gave his instructions on its improvement.
The President met Khorezm youths and women during the ceremony.
"The foundation of today's modern science and electronic discoveries is connected with the unparalleled scientific heritage of our grandfather Al-Khorazmi. We should not only feel proud but feel the responsibility for it. That is why we decided to build a separate town named after the great scientist in Urganch," said the head of state.
The complex will be built near Urganch International Airport, on an area of more than 130 hectares. A huge statue of our grandfather Khorezmi will be created in the centre of the town along with a new university named after Al-Khorazmi.
It is also envisioned to set up a specialized school for gifted children where they can study by working in the centres of science, innovation and culture created in the town.
There will also be a technology park and offices, medical, innovation and cultural centres, boulevards, schools and kindergartens, sports complexes, parking, and commercial and household buildings. 104 apartment buildings with 5,000 apartments will be built. Facilities will be equipped on the basis of "smart technologies".
