The Egyptian government provided Uzbekistan with 30,000 pieces of drugs against the hepatitis C virus after the productive negotiations conducted by the Embassy of Uzbekistan in Cairo and the country's Virological Research Institute, Dunyo NA reports.
Sofosbuvir and daclatasvir drugs 15k each worth 300 thousand dollars made up the humanitarian aid delivered by Egypt to the patients living in the Aral Basin region, as well as Kashkadarya, Namangan, Tashkent regions. Medicines are distributed by the Virological Research Institute.
Hepatitis C is often referred to as the "soft killer" and can lead to cirrhosis or liver cancer. The disease can be transmitted to another person mainly through blood, that is, from an item touched by the blood during dentistry, manicure and other practices due to carelessness.
