The KfW German Development Bank - will provide a subsidized loan of 45 million euros, a budget loan of EUR 10.3 million and two grants totalling EUR 6.5 million for digitalization of the healthcare sector, improvement of the quality and efficiency of health services for the Uzbek population of Uzbekistan, the bank's website reports.
Deputy Minister of Health Otabek Fozilkarimov and director of KfW regional office Andreas Schneider signed the agreements. The goal is to support digital reforms by improving the quality and efficiency of medical services in Uzbekistan.
According to the Dunyo news agency, Christian Laibach, a member of the board of KfW Bankengruppe said that there were shortcomings in the healthcare system in Uzbekistan, which had been especially evident during the coronavirus crisis. By creating an effective IT infrastructure, the healthcare system could be significantly improved.
