On July 8, President Mirziyoyev convened a meeting to discuss results in the field of geology and plans until the end of the year.
Chairman of the State Geology and Mineral Resources Committee B. Islamov reported on the work done stressing the 1.5 times increase in the geological research and drilling work.
Tariff reduction on mineral resources has opened the way to sell the mines through an auction attracting 1 billion 400 million dollars of investment.
The head of state emphasized that in order to effectively organize works in the Navoi region, it is necessary to open a project office in "Navoi uran", to attract foreign specialists and to improve staff qualifications in uranium extraction projects.
The issue of the development of non-ferrous and rare metal deposits was also touched upon. In this regard, geological exploration areas have been expanded.
The committee has started working on the "Yangi Kon" project under the Foundation of Reconstruction and Development of Uzbekistan. The new company will deal with the implementation of investment projects for the production of lithium, aluminium, magnesium, graphite and other rare metals.
The gathering also touched upon the groundwater that has dropped to 20 meters in 21 districts leading to 1,200 criminal cases of the well drillings.
The head of state ordered to increase the underground water reserves in Bukhara, Jizzakh, Samarkand, Surkhandarya and Tashkent regions.
