On June 24, Acting Foreign Minister Vladimir Norov received Hassan Kazemi Kumi, the Iranian president's special envoy to Afghanistan, the Foreign Ministry’s press service reports.
The sides discussed the current state and prospects of Uzbek-Iranian cooperation, as well as cooperation related to Afghanistan. Norov and Kumi expressed readiness to continue constructive dialogue on post-conflict reconstruction, humanitarian assistance to the Afghan people, and their involvement in regional processes.
Iran has confirmed its participation in an international conference on Afghanistan scheduled for July 2022 in Tashkent. The talks will focus on the implementation of infrastructure, transport, and energy projects by Uzbekistan and Iran in Afghanistan.
The talks were also attended by the Special Representative of the President of Uzbekistan for Afghanistan Ismatilla Ergashev.
