Russian President Vladimir Putin will attend a summit of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) in Samarkand this autumn, TASS News agency reports citing Russian presidential aide Yuri Ushakov.
According to him, Vladimir Putin will also take part in the Eastern Economic Forum, as well as the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) Council of Heads of State in Kazakhstan during his trip to Central Asia.
The Samarkand summit of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization thatis scheduled to be held on September 15-16, will be the first since Iran joined the organization last year as a full member.
SCO member states: Uzbekistan, China, Russia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Pakistan, India and Iran will be discussing the situation in Afghanistan, which shares a common border with many member states.
