Uzbekistan’s beef imports have doubled in the first seven months of 2025 compared to the same period last year, according to data published by the Customs Committee.
From January to July 2025, the country imported meat products worth a total of $420.5mn. Of this, more than 82,400 tons of beef were purchased from abroad for $333.1mn.
In the same period in 2024, Uzbekistan imported 43,500 tons of beef for $172.6mn. Overall, the volume of beef imports nearly doubled year-on-year.
Imports of other meats have also risen. Over the past seven months, Uzbekistan imported 32,000 tons of chicken worth $37.1mn and 13,700 tons of mutton valued at $19.3mn. In comparison, January-July 2024 imports included 29,100 tons of chicken worth $34.9mn and 4,300 tons of mutton worth $12.6mn.
Earlier this month, meat was reported to be sold at reduced prices in Tashkent markets. On August 3, a total of 78.9 tons of meat, including imports from Belarus and Mongolia, were delivered to the city’s markets.
Rising prices remain a concern for consumers. According to the Central Bank, meat was among the products that experienced the largest price increases over the past year. By the end of June 2025, beef prices had risen by 30.5%, while mutton prices increased by 32%.
