In a step toward cultivating environmental consciousness and healthy habits among young people, the Ministry of Preschool and School Education of Uzbekistan, the Ministry of Ecology, Environmental Protection and Climate Change, and Nestlé Uzbekistan signed a Memorandum of Cooperation. The signing took place at the European Economy Days Forum in Uzbekistan, symbolizing a shared commitment to instill values of health and sustainability in the nation's youth.
The Memorandum aims to integrate environmental education and health awareness into school programs, targeting children aged 7-8 through specialized modules within the "Natural Sciences" curriculum. Spearheaded by the "Health Routes" program—a part of Nestlé's global "Nestlé for Healthier Kids" initiative—the program will provide age-appropriate lessons on healthy eating, active living, and environmental stewardship.
“Modern children are growing up amid global climate challenges, environmental issues, and the need for health awareness. This Memorandum will help us guide children in understanding these challenges and adopting sustainable lifestyle practices from a young age,” stated Aziz Abdukhakimov, Minister of Ecology, Environmental Protection and Climate Change of Uzbekistan.
The Memorandum aligns with Uzbekistan’s long-term vision for a health-conscious society that values ecological preservation. By incorporating principles of sustainability into the curriculum, the initiative seeks to embed healthy lifestyle choices and a sense of environmental responsibility among the younger generation.
Khilola Uktamovna Umarova, Minister of Preschool and School Education, highlighted the agreement's importance for Uzbekistan's future, expressing hopes that it will foster a generation that adopts sustainable practices as a natural part of everyday life.
Nestlé Uzbekistan's role in the initiative includes providing resources and expertise to ensure effective program delivery, aiming to maximize the program's impact.
Sergey Lysyuk, General Director of Nestlé in Uzbekistan, remarked, "We believe that equipping children with knowledge about nutrition, active living, and environmental care will improve their well-being throughout their lives. By partnering with public organizations and experts, we aim to broaden the reach of this initiative, creating a ripple effect of positive change.”
The program is designed to not only raise awareness among students but also engage public organizations and community leaders, fostering a supportive environment for lifelong healthy habits and environmental care.
