As of August 2024, trade between Uzbekistan and the United States has seen growth, highlighting the strengthening economic relations between the two countries. The total trade volume reached $613.6mn, a 64.6% increase compared to $372.3mn during the same period in 2023, and a 100.9% rise from $305.7mn in 2022. This surge is largely due to improved cooperation, strategic initiatives, and an evolving economic environment that promotes greater trade engagement.
In June 2024, the United States maintained a positive trade balance, exporting $17.2mn and importing $3.05mn from Uzbekistan, yielding a favorable trade balance of $14.1mn. However, this represented a decline in exports from $20.9mn in June 2023, and a decrease in imports from $7.73mn, reflecting a drop of 17.9% and 60.6%.
Recently, the U.S. and Uzbekistan have deepened their collaboration in the critical minerals sector, highlighting a shared focus on sustainable resource management. The Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed on September 16 stressing both nations' dedication to boosting private sector investment in Uzbekistan’s mining industry, while ensuring high environmental and governance standards are maintained.
