Kazakhstan's Ministry of Energy has unveiled a new roadmap designed to expand the nation's oil and gas chemical industry, aiming to triple production by 2030. The "Roadmap for the Development of the Oil and Gas Chemical Industry for 2024–2030" outlines a strategic plan to enhance every aspect of the sector, from raw material acquisition to the production of final goods.
The primary goal is to increase output from 357,800 tons in 2023 to 1.8mn tons by 2030, a move that is expected to boost economic growth and ensure raw material availability for both existing and upcoming projects.
Six key projects, representing a total investment of $14.7bn, will play a central role in this expansion, generating approximately 3,500 permanent and 16,000 temporary jobs.
Key infrastructure improvements, particularly within the National Industrial Petrochemical Technopark, will be a critical part of the roadmap, along with efforts to improve market access and stimulate domestic demand.
In addition, the plan emphasizes the importance of advancing scientific capabilities, human capital, and the regulatory framework to support long-term sectoral growth.
The roadmap was approved by the government of Kazakhstan and is seen as a crucial step in strengthening the country's position in the global oil and gas chemical market, while fostering a sustainable and competitive industrial base.
