Almaz Temirbekov, the trade representative of the Kyrgyz Republic's Ministry of Economy and Commerce in Uzbekistan, held a meeting with representatives from Neta Motors, a leading Chinese electric vehicle manufacturer, in Tashkent on October 3. This meeting stresses Neta Motors' interest in establishing a foothold in the Kyrgyz market.
Neta Motors, known for its production of electric vehicles and three-wheeled motorcycles, has expressed a desire to open a representative office or branch in Kyrgyzstan. The Ministry of Economy anticipates that this development will provide new opportunities for attracting highly qualified specialists and introducing advanced technologies to the region.
Founded in 2014 in Zhejiang, Hozon Auto is the parent company of Neta Motors, established in collaboration with SinoHytec and Tsinghua University. Since its inception, Hozon Auto has made significant strides in the electric vehicle industry, unveiling its first concept car in 2017 and launching its first production vehicle in 2018, with sales commencing the following year.
The company has also expanded its global presence, opening an Autonomous Vehicle Research Center in Silicon Valley in 2018 and a Design Center in Beijing in March 2019. Recently, in March 2023, Hozon Auto announced plans to construct its first overseas manufacturing facility in Bangkok, Thailand, which is expected to be operational by the end of January 2024. This facility will focus on producing and exporting right-hand drive electric vehicles to ASEAN countries.
The potential establishment of a Neta Motors representative office in Kyrgyzstan could enhance the country’s electric vehicle landscape, providing access to cutting-edge technology and expertise in the growing electric transport sector.
