Kazakhstan’s President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev met with Michael Wirth, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Chevron Corporation, to review the status and future opportunities for their strategic partnership.

During the meeting, President Tokayev emphasized Chevron’s key role in Kazakhstan’s energy sector, particularly its contributions to sustainable development. He congratulated Wirth on the achievement of first oil production under the Future Growth Project at the Tengiz oil field, marking a significant milestone for the partnership.
A key focus of the discussion was the continuation of major investment projects, including initiatives related to gas production and the petrochemical sector. The president expressed the importance of increasing the participation of domestic companies in the oil and gas industry, underscoring Kazakhstan's commitment to fostering local engagement and expertise within the sector.

President Tokayev also conveyed Kazakhstan’s readiness to deepen its cooperation with Chevron on a long-term and mutually beneficial basis.
Michael Wirth, in turn, reaffirmed Chevron’s commitment to Kazakhstan, describing the country as a strategic and reliable partner. He highlighted the significant investments made by the joint venture Tengizchevroil in Kazakhstan’s economy from 1993 to 2024, marking over three decades of successful collaboration between the two entities.
Being one of the largest American corporations mainly specializing in oil and gas, Chevron’s investments in Kazakhstan have been increasing in recent years. For example, in 2024, Kazakhstan secured a partnership with Chevron to aid in the discovery of new gas reserves. The corporation also owns 50% of Tengizchevroil in Kazakhstan.
