The total number of employed youth in Kazakhstan reached 3.6 mn by the conclusion of 2Q24, as reported by the Bureau of National Statistics on September 26. This figure marks a 1.8% increase from the same period in the previous year.
The report indicates that 46% of the employed youth possess higher education or postgraduate degrees, while 48% have completed technical vocational training.
The wholesale and retail trade sector, including auto repair, employs the largest number of youth, totalling 643,000. The education sector follows with 438,000 employed individuals, while 416,000 are employed in industrial roles.
The youth unemployment rate is currently recorded at 3.2%, a reduction from 3.6% in the same quarter last year. Notably, by the end of 2023, individuals aged 29-34 years comprised 50.4% of the employed youth demographic.
