Kazakhstan's Ministry of Agriculture is exploring a partnership with Lindsay Corporation, an American company renowned for its pivot irrigation systems. The collaboration aims to introduce advanced water-saving technologies and contemporary irrigation equipment in Kazakhstan. This initiative was discussed in a meeting between Vice Minister Ermek Kenzhehanuly and Gustavo Oberto, CEO of Lindsay Corporation.
The Ministry of Agriculture has set a goal to increase the gross collection of farm products. Vice Minister Kenzhehanuly emphasized that modern irrigation systems are essential for achieving this objective. He stated that the innovative engineering solutions and industrial technologies provided by Lindsay Corporation would be beneficial for the development of Kazakhstan's agricultural sector, expressing a willingness to cooperate in this area.
At this stage, specific details regarding the potential cooperation have not been disclosed. Lindsay Corporation, headquartered in Nebraska, manufactures the Zimmatic irrigation system and produces a range of agricultural and construction machinery, as well as road and railway equipment.
Lindsay Corporation’s shares are distributed among several stakeholders, including Vanguard Fiduciary Trust (11.6%), LB Hercules Holdings (7.2%), State Street Corporation (4.1%), and Amundi Deutschland (3.9%).
The Ministry of Water Resources has reported that over 40% of water is lost during transportation due to channel deterioration. Additionally, more than 14,000 kilometres of irrigation networks in Kazakhstan require reconstruction. To address these issues, the ministry has allocated over $2mn for the necessary repairs and improvements.
