From January to August 2024, Uzbekistan's service market surpassed UZS 367 trillion ($28.8bn), marking a 13.2% increase compared to the same period in the previous year, according to data from the Statistics Agency of Uzbekistan.
The sectors with the highest growth rates, exceeding 20% y/y, include information and communication services, education, and the financial sector. Transportation and trade also made significant contributions to the overall market expansion.
Among Uzbekistan's regions, Tashkent recorded the highest growth rate in the service market at 17.8%, followed by Khorezm at 15.9% and Jizzakh at 14%. Conversely, the lowest growth rates were noted in Bukhara, Surkhandarya, and Karakalpakstan.
The share of small enterprises in the total volume of services rendered decreased slightly to 46.8% (UZS 172 trillion or $13.5bn). As of September 1, there were 268,000 small enterprises operating in Uzbekistan, with more than 36,000 established during the current year.
