From January to August 2024, Uzbekistan exported gold valued at almost $5bn, according to data from the State Statistics Agency. This represents an 11.5% decline in gold export volume compared to the same period in 2023. The share of gold in the country's total export volume was 28.8%, down from 34.3% in the previous year.
Uzbekistan's foreign trade turnover (FTT) reached $42.7bn from January to August 2024, marking an increase of $2.7bn, or 6.6%, compared to the same period in 2023.
Of the total FTT, exports accounted for $17.34bn, reflecting a 5.5% increase from January to August 2023. Imports amounted to $25.36bn, which is a rise of 7.4%. Consequently, the foreign trade balance showed a negative balance of $8.01bn during this period.
