On September 17, a fatal accident occurred at the "Mustakillik-25" mine in Baysun, Uzbekistan. According to Uktam Utayev, Head of the Department of the Prosecutor General's Office, the incident resulted in the deaths of two individuals and injuries to others. A preliminary investigation is currently underway to determine the cause and extent of the accident.
This recent accident follows an earlier incident at the same site. Earlier in September, a hydrogen sulfide leak at the "Mustakillik-25" field prompted an immediate response. The leak, which originated from well No. 604, was successfully contained through the joint efforts of Uzbekistan’s military unit, the Ministry of Emergency Situations, and the State Inspectorate "Sanoatkontexnazorat."
Experts from Uzbekistan, Russia, and the USA were involved in assessing the situation. Safety measures included setting up special monitoring posts in nearby settlements to measure air quality. Officials confirmed that the concentration of harmful substances remained within permissible limits, and the public was not at risk during the response.
Following the earlier incident, the work area around the drilling rig has been cleaned, and preparations are underway to install new equipment. Authorities continue to monitor the situation closely to prevent further accidents and ensure the safety of the site.
