The Kyrgyz-Korean joint company BC Card Kyrgyzstan officially opened on August 28 as a collaboration between South Korea’s leading companies BC Card and Smartro and Kyrgyzstan’s ZAO Mezhbankovskiy Interbank Processing Center. The opening ceremony was attended by Akylbek Japarov, Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers of Kyrgyzstan, who highlighted the significance of the venture for the country’s financial infrastructure and the modernization of payment processing systems.
In his remarks, Japarov highlighted the significance of the event for the country’s financial infrastructure. He stated:
Japarov also highlighted the government's commitment to promoting non-cash payments, as outlined in the State Program to increase the share of non-cash payments and settlements in the Kyrgyz Republic for 2023-2027. He emphasized,
"The development of cashless payments is not only a step towards the modernization of our economy, it is also about strengthening financial security and increasing financial inclusion. We must make the payment process so convenient and simple that even those who are used to cash could not resist the transition to new technologies".
To mark the occasion, Japarov conducted the first transaction using the BC Card Kyrgyzstan system symbolizing the beginning of a new era in the nation’s payment infrastructure.
