IndiGo, one of India's largest low cost airlines has announced significant expansion of its flight services to Central Asia in response to the rising demand for international travel. Starting August 16, 2024 IndiGo will double its flights from Delhi to Almaty, Kazakhstan and Tbilisi, Georgia, with the enhanced schedule for Tashkent beginning on August 17, 2024. The airline will now operate daily flights to these three destinations up from the previous schedule of 4 flights per week to Tashkent and 3 flights per week to Almaty and Tbilisi.
IndiGo launched its services to Tashkent, Almaty and Tbilisi in 2023, marking its entry into these rapidly growing markets. Vinay Malhotra, head of global sales at IndiGo, highlighted the airline’s commitment to enhancing connectivity between India and Central Asia. He stated:
IndiGo airlines claims that this expansion is expected to significantly boost trade, tourism and mobility between India and Central Asia. The increase in flight frequency also reflects IndiGo's approach to scaling its operations in response to market demand. IndiGo’s expanded services to these destinations are expected to foster stronger cultural and economic ties, while providing Indian travelers with better access to the diverse experiences and opportunities in Central Asia.
