Uzbekistan's trade sector has made a significant fiscal contribution in 1H24, amounting to approximately UZS 11.9 trillion ($942.5mn) in taxes, the Tax Committee of Uzbekistan reports. This total reflects the tax payments of 142,201 companies operating within the sector. Notably, 10% of this amount, or UZS 1.2 trillion ($120mn), was paid by just 20 leading organizations, which collectively reported a turnover of UZS 25.3 trillion ($2bn).
Among these top contributors, Anglesey Food stands out as the largest taxpayer with contributions totalling $12.3mn (UZS 154.8bn). Universal Packing Masters follows as the second-largest contributor, with $10mn (UZS 126.7bn) in taxes. Humo Infinity ranks third, contributing $6.8mn (UZS 86bn), while Ung Petro is close behind with $6.7mn (UZS 84.6bn). Intermax Petroleum also made a notable contribution of $6.1mn (UZS 76.5bn). Other significant contributors include Uzum Market, with $5.9mn (UZS 71.9bn), and Acommex, which paid $5.2mn (UZS 66.7 bn).
At the lower end of the spectrum, Nestle Food contributed $4.6mn (UZS 58.7bn), followed by Tashkent Trade Center with $4.3mn (UZS 55.2bn) and Tashkent Tobacco Distribution with $4.2mn (UZS 55.3bn).
In the retail sector, Anglesey Food, the basket chain has emerged as the leading player in tax payments. Established in 1996, the company operates a diverse network of 150 stores across 12 regions in Uzbekistan. This network includes Korzinka supermarkets, Korzinka Mahalla neighborhood shops, Smart convenience stores, Korzinka Biznes wholesale shops, and Korzinka Go online supermarket, which features two darkstores.
