The Civil Aviation Agency of Tajikistan reported that over 3,400 Tajik citizens were deported from Russia in 1H24. At a press conference in Dushanbe, Agency Director Habibullo Nazarzoda clarified that these deportations were primarily due to documentation errors.
Nazarzoda pointed out that the primary cause for the deportations was the lack of necessary documentation. He explained, “The reason for denied entry into Russian territory was sometimes a lack of necessary documents. 95% of people who travel to the country know where they are going and why they are going, but cannot answer questions when asked. Many become confused. That’s why it’s not political.”
Following a recent terrorist attack at Moscow’s Crocus City Hall, allegedly involving Tajik citizens, conditions for migrants travelling to and residing in Russia have tightened. This has led to more stringent checks and measures for those entering the country.
Reports of difficulties in entering Russia have increased, with numerous migrants stating they have been detained at airports and land border crossings for various reasons. However, there has been no official comment from either Tajik or Russian authorities on these issues, leaving the precise reasons for these actions unspecified.
