Collaborating closely with the government of Kazakhstan, public organizations, the business sector, UN agencies, and various partners, over 200 UNDP projects valuing more than $200mn have been successfully executed in Kazakhstan.
Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of National Economy Nurlan Baibazarov convened a meeting in Astana with Katarzyna Wawiernia, the Permanent Representative of the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) in Kazakhstan.
UNDP's initiatives in Kazakhstan focus on enhancing economic development across UN member states. UNDP projects span across a wide array of sectors, including small and medium-sized enterprises, green energy, agriculture, ecotourism, and more.
During the meeting, Deputy Prime Minister Nurlan Baibazarov stressed Kazakhstan's commitment to presenting its third Voluntary National Review on the Sustainable Development Goals at the High-Level Political Forum in New York in 2025.
"Achieving sustainable development goals remains a top national priority for Kazakhstan. We prioritize extensive discussions on goal implementation across multiple forums to devise optimal solutions for our country's sustainable development. The voluntary review will impartially showcase our main achievements, challenges, and emerging issues," Baibazarov emphasized.
The meeting also highlighted Kazakhstan's keen interest in enhancing collaboration with UNDP, particularly focusing on the successful execution of the UNDP Country Program for 2021–2025.
