The United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) in Turkmenistan has introduced the Specialized Gender Mainstreaming Online Course for Public Servants (SGMOC), aimed at fostering gender equality across governmental sectors.
Designed to cater to civil servants, professionals, advisors, students, and all individuals interested in advancing gender equality and human rights, the course covers a spectrum of crucial topics.
Participants in the SGMOC will explore fundamental gender definitions, international standards, and strategies for integrating gender perspectives into public policies. The curriculum includes insights into gender analysis tools, addressing local stereotypes, and tactics for combatting gender-based violence. Moreover, the course emphasizes engaging men in efforts towards gender parity and leveraging national frameworks to achieve sustainable outcomes.
Delivered in English, Russian, and Turkmen languages, the SGMOC offers an interactive learning experience comprising texts, quizzes, presentations, and other interactive materials. Successful completion of the course and assessment leads to a digital certificate, recognizing participants' commitment to advancing gender equality within their professional capacities.
Tomica Paovic, UNDP Officer-in-Charge in Turkmenistan, underscored the initiative's significance in enhancing policy effectiveness and sustainable development. Supported by the Canadian Government, the initiative aligns with Turkmenistan's National Action Plans for Human Rights and Gender Equality (2021-2025), aiming to bolster the country's capacity for promoting women's empowerment and equality.
The launch of the SGMOC marks a pivotal step towards equipping public servants with essential knowledge and skills to integrate gender perspectives into governance practices effectively. By fostering a deeper understanding of gender equality concepts and international benchmarks, the course seeks to empower participants to champion inclusive policies that benefit Turkmen society at large.
