Trade turnover between Turkmenistan and the UAE saw a 15.8% increase last year, as reported by Kerimberdi Kurbanov, Deputy Minister of Trade and Foreign Economic Relations of Turkmenistan, at the Turkmen-Emirati Business Forum in Ashgabat. According to Kurbanov, the trade turnover between Turkmenistan and the UAE reached $1.3bn in 2023, marking a 15.8% rise compared to 2022. He also noted that Turkmenistan's exports to the UAE increased by 13.3%, while imports from the UAE grew by 16.2%.
Turkmenistan's main exports to the UAE include products from the chemical industry, fuel and energy sectors, and agricultural goods. On the other hand, imports from the UAE primarily consist of metallurgical products, vehicles, and equipment.
The economic cooperation between Turkmenistan and the UAE is being strengthened through various initiatives. These initiatives encompass the development of mutual investments, the expansion of trade in diverse goods and services, and collaborative projects in the fields of energy, infrastructure, and digitalization.
Both countries are dedicated to fostering partnerships that promote sustainable economic growth and cooperation within international economic initiatives and organizations.
Earlier, Daryo reported that Turkmenistan's government and the OPEC Fund for International Development formalized the "Country Partnership Framework Program" for 2024–2029.
