Kazakhstan's natural gas production totalled 25.8 bn cubic meters in 5M24, marking a 5.2% increase compared to the same period last year, the Bureau of National Statistics reports. During May 2024 alone, Kazakhstan produced 4.9 bn cubic meters of natural gas, indicating an 8.7% rise from May 2023, when production stood at 4.5 bn cubic meters.
From January through May 2024, Kazakhstan's commercial gas production amounted to 4.5 bn cubic meters, reflecting a 7.4% increase from the previous year's 4.2 bn cubic meters over the same period.
In 2023, Kazakhstan's total gas production was reported at 59.1 bn cubic meters, sourced predominantly from major fields including Tengiz (16 bn cubic meters), Karachaganak (22.4 bn cubic meters), Kashagan (11.9 bn cubic meters), and others (8.8 bn cubic meters).
Kazakhstan aims to produce 60.5 bn cubic meters of raw natural gas by the end of 2024, continuing its trajectory of growth in the energy sector.
Earlier, Daryo reported that Kazakhstan's natural gas prices are the lowest in the world, with consumers paying $0.07 per cubic meter, according to a survey conducted by RIA Novosti. Despite this, an increase is on the horizon. The Ministry of Energy announced a 20% rise in wholesale gas prices, which will affect the cost paid by consumers.
