Over the course of five months, the Competition Committee of Uzbekistan has granted dominant status in various markets of goods and services to six companies or groups of companies, as it was informed by the department's press service on June 20.
Two companies, Uztemiryulovchi and Temiryulexpress, have been recognized as dominant players in the field of passenger rail transport services. These companies were formed as part of the reorganization of Uzbekistan Temir Yollari (UTY) last year. Additionally, Shahar Atrofida Yulovchi Tashish, a subsidiary of Uztemiryulovchi, has been designated as the dominant entity in suburban passenger transportation. This company was also created during the reform of UTY.
In the sphere of supersphosphate production, Indorama Kokand Fertilizers and Chemicals and Ferganaazot, which was privatized by Indorama, have jointly been recognized as dominant. Ferganaazot has also received dominant status in the urea market.
Gazli Gas Storage has been recognized as having a dominant position in the field of natural gas injection and storage in underground facilities. In the market of formaldehyde production, JV Continaz has been assigned dominant status.
Furthermore, the Competition Committee has acknowledged Interterminal as having superior bargaining power in the rail leasing services market.
