Turkmenistan’s State Commodity Exchange recorded 38 deals totalling over $7mn last week, the State News Agency of Turkmenistan stated. Companies from the United Arab Emirates (UAE), Afghanistan, and Uzbekistan purchased aviation kerosene and polypropylene from the national oil company, Türkmennebit, using foreign currency.
Additionally, bed linens, denim and cotton fabric products, cotton yarn, and Portland cement were sold for foreign currency to buyers from the UAE, Afghanistan, and Kyrgyzstan.
Turkmen businesses purchased polypropylene, blended paraffin, base oil, carbon black and iodine, bischofite, sodium sulfate, float sheet glass, and handmade carpets for the domestic market. These transactions were valued at over $150,000.
In 2023, exports of petroleum products from Turkmenistan's largest oil refinery in Turkmenbashi reached 1.3mn tonnes. These products were shipped by sea and rail to Georgia, Malta, Azerbaijan, Afghanistan, Tajikistan, and Uzbekistan. The refinery produces unleaded motor fuel, aviation and technical kerosene, jet and diesel fuel, heating oil, motor oils, polypropylene, fuel oil, light gas oil, petroleum electrode coke, liquefied gas, and construction and road bitumen.
