Energy Week Central Asia & Caspian 2024, previously named Energy Week Central Asia & Mongolia, is scheduled to occur on September 5-6 in Kazakhstan's Astana. The event aims to bring together key stakeholders from Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, the Kyrgyz Republic, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan, and nearby countries. It will attract a diverse group of global developers, sponsors, financiers, and leading technological companies, all gathering to influence Central Asia's transition to green energy.
Given the substantial untapped renewable energy potential and favourable conditions in the region, discussions will centre around policy and regulatory frameworks, financing renewable energy, and exploring technology-specific projects such as solar PV, storage, wind energy, green hydrogen, and hydropower.
Meanwhile, the Kazakh Ministry of Energy revealed a portfolio of 60 investment projects totalling KZT 17 trillion ($38.1 bn). The ministry’s press service highlighted that these initiatives are designed to foster economic growth, bolster energy security, create employment opportunities, reduce environmental impact, and integrate advanced technologies in energy infrastructure.
The investment projects will primarily focus on commissioning new energy capacities, constructing gas processing facilities, expanding domestic refineries, developing renewable energy projects, and advancements in petrochemical production.
