Turkmenistan will investigate the potential implementation of 5G technology, the State News Agency of Turkmenistan reports. This proposal, presented by Mammetkhan Chakiyev, Director of the Agency for Transport and Communications under the Cabinet of Ministers, received approval from President Serdar Berdimuhamedov during an online government meeting.
During the meeting, Chakiyev reported on Turkmenistan's advancements in digitalization, highlighting the deployment of innovative technologies and digital solutions in Arkadag city. These initiatives include the development of smart city and smart home systems, as well as enhancements in cybersecurity.
Chakiyev also mentioned that modern technologies and innovations are planned for use in the Ashgabat City megaproject. This initiative is part of Turkmenistan's broader strategy to incorporate advanced communication technologies.
The Turkmenaragatnashyk Agency (Turkmen Communications) proposed examining the adoption of 5G technology, given its significant benefits over 4G. The 5G technology provides ten times higher data transmission capacity and a more stable and reliable connection.
President Berdimuhamedov underscored the importance of integrating advanced digital technologies to support the transition to a digital economy. He approved the proposal to explore the possibilities and advantages of 5G technology and instructed Chakiyev to conduct a detailed examination of the issue.
