Somon Air, Tajikistan's first privately owned airline, increased the number of flights from Dushanbe to Munich, Germany. Flights will now operate twice a week, specifically on Wednesdays and Saturdays, starting June 5.
Departures from Dushanbe are scheduled for 00:10, with return flights from Munich at 17:00 (GMT+5) local time. The airline will utilize Boeing 737-800 and Boeing 737-900 aircraft for this route.
Established in 2008, Somon Air is headquartered in Dushanbe and primarily operates from Dushanbe International Airport. Initially offering flights to Moscow and Dubai, the airline has since expanded its network to include several international destinations.
Earlier, Daryo reported that the Eurasian Development Bank (EDB) is in the process of allocating $100mn in funding to Somon Air, a Tajikistan-based airline. This funding is earmarked for the acquisition of two Boeing 737 aircraft, in line with Somon Air's plans for fleet expansion.
Somon Air is a member of the International Air Transport Association (IATA) and operates a fleet consisting of Boeing 737-800 and 737-900 family aircraft. The airline's focus is on expanding its route network and fleet.
Somon Air also serves as the official carrier of the President of Tajikistan and other high-ranking Tajikistan officials. This underscores its role in fulfilling the country's aviation needs.
